---Check bottom of post for updates---

Many of you may remember the article on a case-control study last year that reported no increased risk of lung and other aerodigestive tract cancers due to marijuana smoking.

I managed to obtain a copy of the abstract from the ICRS recently, and here it is..

Marihuana, the Forbidden Medicine

Examples of the ways that marihuana alleviates symptoms of cancer chemotherapy, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, glaucoma, AIDS, and depression, as well as symptoms of such less common disorders as Crohn`s disease, diabetic gastroparesis, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Therapeutic Use of Cannabis
DEPRESSION & HUNDREDS OF OTHER PRIMARY MEDICAL USES

One well known effect of THC is to lift the spirit, or make you "high." Cannabis users in Jamaica praise ganja's benefits for meditation, concentration, consciousness-raising and promoting a state of well being and self assertiveness.5 This kind of attitude adjustment, along with a healthier appetite and better rest, often represents the difference between feeling like you are "dying of" AIDS or cancer and feeling like you are "living with" AIDS or cancer.

Cannabis also eases small pains and some big ones and helps senior citizens live with aches and pains like arthritis, insomnia and debilitating infirmities, and enjoy life in greater dignity and comfort. Legend has it, and medical evidence indicates, that cannabis is the best overall treatment for dementia, senility, and maybe Alzheimer's disease, for long-term memory "gain" and hundreds of other benefits. U.S. statistics of the 1970s indicated that you will live eight to 24 years longer if you substitute daily cannabis use for daily tobacco and alcohol use. New research is outlawed, of course.

No Ganja ever caused cancer like Cheney Halliburton and Asbestos...

Trenches - Journal - Bush and Asbestos
As an oncologist, I see the deadly and tragic consequences of exposure to the carcinogen asbestos in my patients who suffer from lung cancer and mesothelioma. I also know all too well the inadequacy of the regulatory system designed to protect workers, as my brother was killed due to unsafe working conditions. On a personal and professional level, I condemn President Bush’s recent campaign to overhaul the civil justice system by urging Congressional approval of legislation that would limit the legal rights workers who have been injured by asbestos.

Marijuana Less Cancerous Than Tobacco
By Steve Mitchell, Senior Medical Correspondent
Source: United Press International October 17, 2005
Washington, D.C. -- Marijuana is less carcinogenic than tobacco smoke and may even have some anti-cancer properties, new research suggests. Robert Melamede, chair of biology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, reviewed studies of the illicit drug and published his findings in the Oct. 17 issue of Harm Reduction Journal.

Hundreds of chemicals added to corporate cigarettes
NOT added to Ganja. This is what causes lung damage.
Native Americans smoked tobacco thousands of years without problems,
Turkey and Egypt also smoked organic tobacco with no horror stories as with American tobacco products. Ganja actually expectorates the harmful effects of cigarettes.

Pot Smoke: Less Carcinogenic Than Tobacco? By Jennifer Warner
Source: WebMD Medical News October 17, 2005
Washington, D.C. -- Although tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke are chemically very similar, a new report argues that their cancer-causing effects may be very different. Both tobacco and cannabis smoke contain the same cancer-causing compounds (carcinogens). Depending on what part of the plant is smoked, marijuana can contain more of these harmful ingredients.

CANNABIS DOES NOT CAUSE CANCER

Cannabis is a safe medicine by Ian Williams Goddard
BOSTON, Jan. 30, 1997 (UPI) -
The U.S. federal government has failed to make public its own 1994 study that undercuts its position that marijuana is carcinogenic - a $2 million study by the National Toxicology Program. The program's deputy director, John Bucher, says the study "found absolutely no evidence of cancer." In fact, animals that received THC had fewer cancers. Bucher denies his agency
had been pressured to shelve the report, saying the delay in making it public was due to a personnel shortage. However, The Boston Globe says the government's claim appears to be undercut by its own $2 million study.

The USA Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy 1987
"Cannabis can be used on an episodic but continual basis without evidence of social or psychic dysfunction. In many users the term dependence with its obvious connotations, probably is mis-applied... The chief opposition to the drug rests on a moral and political, and not toxicologic, foundation".

U.S. GOVT. COVERS UP MARIJUANA CANCER CURE!
Last year, Spanish scientists found evidence that marijuana can (destroy) tumors in rats. But that came as (no surprise) to US. health (officials), (who quickly (deep sixed) the report). (Drug-war-obsessed federal officials) (have known) about the (cancer-beating) properties of (pot) for (more than 25 years) and have kept it a (secret) from (the public)!

Study Shows Therapeutic Benefits,
No Adverse Effects in Long-Term Marijuana Users
